- Notes: Jazz Fest will bring a deep dive into the sounds of musical architecture by Mars Williams, a Chicago-based heavy weight in avant garde and rock circles. After encountering Music Box in 2018 during the Instigation Festival, he was determined to musically compose and direct a show for our invented instruments. He will realize this vision, generously supported by a South Arts Creative Residencies Grant, with a huge roster of local and visiting musicians including guitar great Nels Cline, jazz visionaries James Brandon Lewis, Jessica Lurie and Ben Lamar Gay, and cellist and chanteuse Helen Gillet.
