Sofie Salonika is a hybrid group playing music from the Sephardic Balkan traditions, spiced with improvisaiton and original compositions. The group features musicians from the NYC jazz and world music scene Jessica Lurie on sax, flute, voice and accordian, Katie Down on flute, ukulele, voice, small percusison, Arthur Kell on bass, and Shane Shanahan on percussion.
